After university I trained as a lawyer, taught at various levels, set up quality schools in Indonesia, and wrote for and edited international magazines. My love and deep concern is for Indonesia.
Unlike most lawyers, I am at the coalface of injustice - I am experiencing its very painful and destructive consequences. I was thrown in jail for months on totally false charges. I was denied my human rights (Nos. 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,12,16 & 17 - despite Indonesia's ratification of international charters and conventions), as police were complicit in obtaining false evidence (a bogus visum et repertum) against me. I was not only denied sight of this false evidence during my trial, but also the judges accepted it as evidence knowing full well it was false. One judge after another participated in the crimes against me, such that I have had to watch from afar as my schools were milked to destruction, my children were deceived and denied the education I had worked and planned for them, and the house I built and paid for was mortgaged to the hilt such that foreclosure threatens.
I have repeatedly requested that these crimes against me, as an entrepreneurial foreigner who was active in Indonesia, be investigated; but because justice system officials have been complicit in these crimes, no such investigation has yet taken place.
Thus, I am not just one of the many theorists on injustice, legal system corruption and violence or the threat of it. I understand these things through actually experiencing them, which makes me better able to combat them. So, rather than sit on the sidelines, join me for the sake of the poor, exploited and abused in Indonesia - a country under the yoke of and retarded by a corrupt and dysfunctional legal system.
